7 Paint Colours to Try in 2017

In the past, I’ve always loved white and light grey walls, but lately have been feeling so inspired by all the amazing paint colours available. Most of the rooms in our new house still need to be painted, and I think 2017 will definitely be the year that I start embracing a lot more colour. I’ve been keeping a Pinterest board of all the shades I want to try, and thought I’d share some of my favourites.

1. Hague Blue – Farrow & Ball

I’ve been searching for the perfect navy wall colour for a while now. I wanted something that is just the right darkness, and has a touch of green to avoid it looking purple-y. I think Hague Blue by Farrow & Ball might be just what I’m looking for. Navy is definitely darker than I would normally go – but I love any blue, so I think Hague Blue is the perfect way to ease into more dramatic shades.

2. Steel Symphony – Dulux

Instead of going with white or grey for your living room, why not opt for a super light blue like Steel Symphony by Dulux. It still gives you that “clean white” feel but is a little more interesting. I love it in a sunny room where the light can really reflect off of it.

3. Poised Taupe – Sherwin Williams

Sherwin Williams have named Poised Taupe as their 2017 Colour and of the Year, and I think we’re going to be seeing a lot of this beautiful shade. It’s described as warm brown + cool grey, but also seems to have a mauve undertone which I think gives it a lovely feminine softness. Paired with that dark wood headboard? Dreamy!

4. Hare – Crown Paint

I haven’t really been into pink since I was about 5 years old, but lately I cannot get enough of dusty rose. Hare by Crown Paint looks like it’s muted enough that it’s more sophisticated than princess-y. Pair it with grey for a classic combination or with rose gold accessories for a more modern look.

5. Light Blue – Farrow and Ball

If you ask me what my favourite colour is, I’ll usually say it’s anywhere between pale blue and green. While this colour by Farrow and Ball is called ‘Light Blue’, it’s definitely more on the green side and I love the antique feel of it. This will almost certainly be one of our bedroom colours.

6. Aleutian Blue – Sherwin Williams

I have been looking for the perfect ‘Serenity-inspired’ blue for a while now, but wanted to avoid anything that might read as periwinkle. I think I’ve found it in Aleutian Blue by Sherwin Williams. It’s the perfect silvery blue and looks so crisp paired with white.

7. Inchyra Blue – Farrow & Ball

Ok, I’ll be honest. I don’t know if I’m brave enough to try this colour – it is just so far outside my comfort zone. But there’s something I love about it so, so much. It’s a little masculine and moody, but also kind of glamourous. Inchyra Blue is one of Farrow & Ball’s newly released 2016 colours, all of which are stunning and worth checking out. Hmm. Maybe in a just a small amount on our fireplace wall?
